The Business EUlympics Games are part of an Erasmus+ Mobility Project and were hosted at our school from November 5 to 7 2018. Some students had already taken part in the Environmental and Cultural EUlympics in Pardubice and Bratislava.
The first day started with a getting to know each other activity called “Speed Dating”. We had to introduce ourselves to each other with different questions - but we only had 1 minute per person. After that, the Olympic teams were built and then the first event - a Kahoot quiz about slogans, brands and logos was played. Then we went on a “Selfie Safari” into the city centre, where we had a great time.
We started the second day with the “Trading Game”. Everybody received a bag with “gifts” like small chocolate bars, candies, pens and pencils, socks, etc. There were four different types of bags to recreate global trading situation. The game was played in four rounds and after every round we had to evaluate our level of satisfaction. In the first round we should inspect our items without letting anyone else see them, whereas in the second round we could reveal our items within our bag groups. In round 3 all groups except one were allowed exchange items within their groups. In the final round everyone was allowed to trade with everyone.
For lunch our teachers (Ms Brandl and Ms Lenzeder) organized a “Pizza Party” in the school’s assembly hall. The pizzas were really tasty. In the afternoon we started the last big event of the Business Olympic Games. Each group was given a beverage and we had to develop and design an advertising campaign on iPads for this drink. The spectators played games and created a presentation about the highlights of our meeting.
On the last day, after finishing our ad campaigns or presentations, we had to present our products to a critical jury.
In the end we received participation certificates and medals at a ceremony. All in all we really enjoyed the visit of the Czech and Slovak students, because we spent some wonderful days with our new friends. Moreover, it was a good language training, because we had to speak English all the time.
